Caulk of the Town
NEAR is bringing back our Caulk of the Town event on Friday, October 17, 2025.
Caulk of the Town is a one-day, resident-focused home weatherization event with a history dating back to the 1980s led by NEAR’s predecessor organizations. The event allows residents and volunteers to care for other neighbors, neighborhoods, and housing. This year, the event will focus on serving residents in the Rivoli Park neighborhood which is east of Rural, south of 10th Street, west of Sherman Dr. and north of Michigan St.

Houses in the Rivoli Park needing weatherization assistance
Residents can benefit from services that aim to increase their home’s energy efficiency and thus reduce their energy bills to prepare their homes for the winter season. Services may include caulking and weather-stripping, HVAC tune ups and yard clean up depending on conditions of homes and supply availability. Some residents with larger home repair needs may be able to get connected to other programs offered by other agencies and organizations that may be delivered at a future date. If you live in the Rivoli Park Neighborhood and would be interested in receiving assistance, please keep an eye out for a postcard in your mailbox in July with instructions, or sign up here. Home owners and renters are both eligible, however renters must receive landlord consent before services are rendered.
Volunteer
We’re looking for individual volunteers and corporate teams to come together, roll up your sleeves, and weatherize a home. No experience/expertise necessary. We will give you a t-shirt, lunch, and all the tools and supplies needed to make a difference on this day. In addition to our main work day, Friday, Oct. 17 from approx. 8:30am-2pm, we also have some volunteer needs leading up to the event with more flexible timing to prepare materials. Sign up to volunteer here. [add link]
Sponsor and Support
Caulk of the Town can only be a success through support from generous sponsors which allow us to provide weatherization supplies for the event. Sponsorship opportunities range from the House Sponsor level at $250 up to the Community Sponsor level at $2,500. Each sponsorship level comes with its own level of recognition. We’re also looking for companies in the trades and home service industries that can provide in-kind support through free services, supplies, etc. If you’re interested in learning more about sponsorship opportunities or providing in-kind support or services, please contact assistance@nearindy.org
